Village
Condominiums Receives Landscape of Excellence Award
The
Village Condominiums have been presented a Landscape of
Excellence award. The award was given by Community Canopy,
a tree care education program, in recognition of the outstanding
use and care of trees within the Fourth Street right-of-way next
to the subdivision. The Village Condominiums are located
on 4th Street and Knotty Pine Lane.
The award was given
to recognize the exceptional use of trees and tree care within
the Fourth Street landscape. Katie Kosanke of Community
Canopy cited the retention of large native trees by meandering
sidewalks around trees, the provision of proper irrigation, the
prompt removal and replacement of trees that have failed, and
the visually pleasing effect of having a variety of tree
species. Landscape workers have also taken care to not
wound trees with landscape maintenance equipment.
The Landscape of
Excellence award was presented to Teri Newcombe by City Council
Member John Bruning at a recent Coeur d'Alene City Council
meeting. Teri Newcombe gave recognition for a high level
of care to their professional landscape team, which includes
Stafford's Yard Care, Kurt Leonard of Aldercreek Enterprises,
Living Water and North Idaho Sprinkler.
This is the first
Landscape of Excellence Award presented by Community Canopy.
"We want to encourage good tree care by highlighting those
businesses or organizations who are doing things right" said
Kosanke.
Community Canopy is
a tree care partnership of the cities of Coeur d'Alene, Hayden,
Post Falls, Spokane and the Spokane County Conservation District
with the assistance of the University of Idaho Extension and
