Public and private residential roads.
Public and private residential roads are all those roads
around Lake Pend Oreille that are not associated with timber
harvesting. Originally, many of these roads were built for
short term logging access and were not constructed for permanent
long term residential and recreation use.
Today, the roads
around the Lake mostly provide access for residential and
recreational uses. Maintenance of the public roads is done
by any one of the following agencies: United States Forest
Service, Idaho State Department of Lands, and Bonner County.
Homeowners are responsible for their private driveways.
